Type-2 City Validation Tool

Compute each indicator against its threshold, then validate the composite score for Type-2 classification.

Displacement and Demographics

Refugees per km²
Equation: =SUM(Refugees)/Area
People per km²
Equation: =SUM(Population)/Area
Refugees / Population (%)
Equation: =Refugee Density / Population Density * 100

Urban Infrastructure

Schools per 1000 children
Equation: =COUNT(Schools)/Children Population * 1000
Health coverage area / Pop
Equation: =Covered Population / Total Population
Water coverage vs demand
Equation: =Water Supply / Water Demand
Sewer coverage area / Pop
Equation: =Covered Population / Total Population
Proximity and access to dumpsites
Equation: =AVG(Distance to Nearest Site)

Housing and Settlements

ITS per km² or % area
Equation: =Area of ITS / Total Urban Area
Dwellings per km²
Equation: =SUM(Houses)/Area

Mobility and Access

Road density and connectivity
Equation: =Total Road Length / Area
Service accessibility
Equation: =AVG(Distance to Stop)

Proximity and Risk

Distance in km
Equation: =Distance to Nearest Border
Proximity in km
Equation: =Distance to Nearest Conflict Zone

Satellite-Derived

Radiance value (low = underdeveloped)
Equation: =Avg(Night Radiance)

Composite Indicator

Refugee Proportion (%)
Equation: =Refugees / Population * 100
Unserved population / total population
Equation: =(People out of school + Uncovered by health + Outside sewer) / Total Population
Sum of ITS, Overcrowding, and Poor Service Access
Equation: =ITS Area + Overcrowding Index + Avg(Distance to Basic Services)

Validation Logic

The city is considered Type-2 if the Composite Validation Score (CVS) is greater than or equal to the user-defined threshold.

Composite Validation Score (CVS) is calculated as:

CVS = Σ ( Weight × ( Indicator Value / Threshold ) )

The weights are user-defined, and the thresholds represent the minimum expected values for each indicator.
